Dyno Cams/Tri-State Season Opener at Possum Kingdom – $10,000 To Win

Possum Kingdom Announces Return of Dyno Cams as 2012 Title Sponsor

Dyno Cams will share title sponsorship with Chase’n Race’n Illustrated. Dyno Cams is based in Delco, North Carolina, and is the leading cam manufacturer in North America. Dyno Cams also stocks a massive inventory of products that includes karts, parts, and accessories, all available through their online store.

Chase’n Race’n illustrated will provide media coverage and advertising for the Tri-State Series. Chase’n Race’n Illustrated is America’s number one go kart racing magazine.

The Tri-State Pro Series will kick of the 2012 season at Possum Kingdom Super Speedway in Belton, South Carolina on February tenth through eleventh. Possum Kingdom Super Speedway is under new ownership for the 2012 go kart racing season, and the new management is very excited and enthusiastic about the upcoming racing season. Jason Owens will be assisting with track preparation throughout the month of February until the new owner, Jayson Brown, can learn the ropes. Possum Kingdom Super Speedway is a great facility and a great place to kick off the 2012 season.

This will be the biggest season opener in the history of the Tri-State Pro Series with more than $40,000 in purses and prizes on the line. The main event for the weekend will be a Pro Clone fifty lap feature that will pay a whopping $10,000 to win on a $95 entry fee. Everyone who enters will compete. Payback will be for the top twenty finishers. There will also be a payout for the winners of the B and C main events. The top 30 qualifiers will advance to the feature event. The winner of the A main will advance to the thirty-first starting position for the feature event. The winner of the B main will advance to the thirty-second starting position. Position thirty-three will go to the racer who pulled the farthest, and position thirty-four will be awarded to the first person who pre-registered but did not make the feature through qualifying.

Other feature races will include a special Junior Clone feature that will pay $1000 to win. This class will utilize the clone engine with silver restrictor plate. Minimum weight for this event will be 280 pounds. The age range is from eight to twelve years old. A nineteen-tooth shoe style clutch will be mandatory. Rear gears may range from fifty-eight to sixty-two teeth. This was our largest plate class at Thanksgiving Thunder, and we expect a great turnout for this race. We will ensure that drivers who wish to compete in this class and our regular purple plate and blue plate classes are able to do so.

The Senior Champ Heavy Class will also compete for a $1000 winner’s purse. We expect a great kart count in this class also, with local talent and commitments from Champ racers throughout the southeastern US. For the 2012 racing season, we will use the animal engines, but we will also combine the clones with a twenty-five pound weight allowance so that the clone powered Champs can compete, if so desired.

The Junior Sportsman Champ Division will also be on hand, competing for $500 to win that feature event.

The popular Senior Stock Division will return for the 2012 racing season. The Senior Stock Feature event will pay $500 to win. This class uses the clone engine. Kart and driver must weigh a minimum of 380 pounds. Non “kart shop drivers” ages thirty-five to thirty-nine may compete in this class, or any driver from age forty and up.

The Hobby Class will also compete for $250 to win. This class uses the clone engine with a 19 tooth shoe style clutch. Rear gears range from fifty-eight to sixty-two teeth. This class is meant to be a less expensive go kart racing division for experienced kart racers who race as a hobby. This class will have big season end awards for top finishers. The entry fee for the Hobby Feature Race at Possum Kingdom will be just $20. Due to the high kart counts in this class, there will be tow feature events.

This event will use the two day format with 5 non-points paying classes competing on Friday evening. There is an online entry form at tristatekarting.com. If you register online you’ll save $5 per class on your entry fees. All pre-entries will be awarded a bonus practice session.
